Your completed test includes a FREE Bird DNA Result Certificate recording the laboratory result and the bird details supplied. Keep it with your bird’s records and check that the identification details are correct.

How Bird DNA Testing Works

The laboratory examines DNA from the submitted sample to identify genetic sex. A suitable sample and clear bird identification help the process run smoothly. We’ll explain what is needed and help if the laboratory requests another sample.

Your Bird’s Comfort

Your bird’s comfort matters to us. This service uses feather samples, with no blood sample needed. A few useful details so you know what to expect. These terms cover DNA sexing alongside our Terms of Service.

What does my booking include?

We arrange laboratory DNA sexing and provide a result certificate for your completed test. Your booking shows the price and selected service. Please tell us if you require eggshell testing, and contact us before sending samples from outside Malta. Any additional service or delivery costs will be explained before you agree to them.

How can I help my sample go smoothly?

Please give us the correct species and bird identification, follow our collection instructions and keep each bird’s samples clearly labelled and separate. You should own the bird or have the owner’s permission to arrange testing. Contact us if you need help with collection or your bird needs extra care.

What does my result tell me?

The certificate reports the genetic sex identified from the sample tested and uses the bird details supplied. Please check those details when it arrives. DNA sexing does not assess health, fertility, breeding success or ownership. If you need a certificate for a particular organisation or official purpose, check its requirements before booking.

What if my result needs more time or another check?

The advertised turnaround is an estimate. Sample checks, repeat analysis or delivery delays can affect timing. If a sample needs replacing, we’ll explain the next step and agree any justified additional charge before proceeding.

If you believe a result is incorrect, send us your booking reference and the details so we can review it with the laboratory. If an error in our service needs correcting, we’ll put it right without an extra charge and provide any remedy required by law.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

For appointment changes, use the rescheduling options in your confirmation or contact us. Consumers booking online normally have 14 days from entering the service contract to cancel without giving a reason. Simply email hello@birdsmalta.com with your booking reference and a clear request to cancel; no particular form is required.

If you expressly ask us to begin during those 14 days and then cancel, a proportionate charge may apply for work already provided, where the legal conditions for that charge are met. The right to cancel because you have changed your mind ends after full completion only if you expressly agreed to the early start and acknowledged that consequence beforehand.

Refunds due following withdrawal are made within 14 days of your cancellation notice, using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. Your rights if the service is not provided correctly remain unaffected.

These terms do not reduce your legal consumer rights. Maltese law applies without removing any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.
